After Tuesday's thunderbolt in Netrakona that claimed the lives of eight people and wounded nine others six more people were killed and four others injured in a series of thunderbolts in Islampur Upazila of Jamalpur district this afternoon.

Upazila Administration sources said a storm accompanied by heavy rain lashed out this afternoon and flashes of lightning struck some people who were working in the paddy field at Pathorshi union.

As a result , Pala Sheikh,40, son of Hasan Sheikh, Shaha Jamal,45 son of Kailya Sheikh and Enamul Haque,60 son of Jabbar Khan at village Gamaria union of Islampur Upazila were killed on the spot.

Two others could be identified as Hamed, Raja MIah and Bishu were injured.

In separate incident Jobed Ali, 60 son of Kandu Sheikh at village Batikamari in Palbandha union, Billal Hossain,36 son of Koddus Mollah at village Projapotir Char in Sapdhari union and Mahijal,40 son of Akhter Bax at village Chandanpur in Gaibandha union in Islampur Upazila were killed when a series of thunderbolts struck on them during the storm .

Two others were also injured in the lightning .

Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Md Mazharul Islam said the injured were admitted to various hospitals in Islampur, Dewanganj and Jamalpur.

The UNO said six cows , three in Islampur and Dewanganj Upazila each were also killed by thunderbolt.

Eight people were killed and nine others injured critically when thunderbolt struck them in four upazilas of Netrakona district during abrupt heavy downpour on Tuesday afternoon.
