Nur demands release of detained anti-Modi protesters
The arrests were made by the law enforcers during protests against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bangladesh visit in March
Former vice-president of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) Nurul Haque Nur on Friday demanded the release of Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad leaders who were arrested during the anti-Modi protests.
The arrests were made by the law enforcers during protests against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bangladesh visit in March.
When the country was celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the largest festivals of Muslims, around 200 protesters led by Nurul Haque Nur gathered at the Central Shaheed Minar at 11 am and demanded the release of their fellows.

At least 53 leaders of the Chhatra Odhikar Parishad are still behind bars as they opposed the visit of 'communal' Indian PM Modi, Nur said.
Slamming the ruling party, the student leader said "The illegal government has arrested them to remain in power."
"All our leaders and activists must be released immediately, otherwise the Parishad will launch greater movement along with the people of the country." he warned.
Indian Prime Minister Modi arrived in Dhaka on March 26 at the invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and together celebrated Mujib Borsho-- the birth centenary of Bangabandhu and 50 years of Bangladesh's Independence.
