Mosharraf Karim to star in Bratya Basu’s film again

Popular Bangladeshi actor Mosharraf Karim is set to act in another film of veteran film director Bratya Basu of West Bengal in India.

There were speculations that Mosharraf Karim is going to star in another Kolkata film as he and Robena Reza Jui went to Kolkata before the ongoing lockdown in Bangladesh.

Finally, the confirmation came with the noted actor's own words when he said "I'm going to act in another film of director Bratya Basu, if everything goes well."

After returning home a week ago, the couple is now staying in quarantine in a Jashore hotel, complying with the government's pandemic guidelines. They will celebrate this Eid in a different context without relatives and other family members.

Talking to The Business Standard on Thursday, Mosharraf Karim said that he has talked with Bratya Basu over the upcoming film. "Everything is okay at his end and I have also agreed. Now let's see how far it goes," he said.

Earlier, Mosharraf Karim came to the discussion and drew much appreciation in the West Bengal after acting in another film titled 'Dictionary' directed by Bratya Basu.

The film recently won the 'Gautam Buddha Award' in the 'Best Featured Film' category in the Nepal International Film Festival.

Although the trace of the previous film's success is yet to fade away, Musharraf Karim once again announced to work in another film with the same director.

"Despite the name of the movie has not been finalized yet, the pre-production work of the film has started already. The context of the new film will be politics and social system.", Bratya Basu said while talking to the Hindustan Times in Kolkata about the film.

He will direct the political thriller based on true events, Basu said adding that the thrilling biography of Hubba Shyamal will be screened on the silver screen now.

Who is Hubba Shyamal?

Hubba Shyamal is popularly known as Dawood Ibrahim in Hooghly of India who became a gangster in the late 1990s. Hubba Shyamal enjoyed the sole authority in the dark world of gangsters in Hooghly district.

He was sued in at least 30 cases, including cases for murder, kidnapping and drug trafficking. Despite being arrested several times, he secured bail.

After going missing in 2011, Hubba Shyamal's decomposed body was found floating in the Vaidyabati canal. He was shot dead.

Bratya Basu told media that he wants to portray the changing landscape of Bengal's politics in the era of globalization. There will be a mix of comedy with crime in this film.
