Bonolota Express offers first glimpse of Eid cinematic journey
The anticipation for this year's Eid-ul-Fitr cinema season has reached a fever pitch following the unveiling of the first look for Tanim Noor's latest directorial venture, 'Bonolota Express'.
Released on the evening of 4 March across various social media platforms and the YouTube channels of Hoichoi Bangladesh and Buriganga Talkies, the teaser has already sparked significant conversation among cinephiles. Based on the beloved story 'Kichukhon' by the late legendary author Humayun Ahmed, the film promises a poignant exploration of human connections set against the evocative backdrop of a railway journey.
The visuals transport viewers to a nostalgic railway station, introducing a sprawling ensemble cast whose lives intersect within the confines of a train. Industry stalwarts such as Mosharraf Karim and Chanchal Chowdhury lead the impressive lineup, alongside Zakia Bari Mamo, Azmeri Haque Badhan, Shyamal Mawla, and Sariful Razz.
Character details have already begun to emerge: Sabila Nur portrays an ordinary Bengali woman, while Chanchal Chowdhury steps into the role of a high-ranking minister, accompanied by Badhan as his wife. Sariful Razz appears as a doctor, adding to the diverse mosaic of passengers.
Adding a layer of intrigue is a mysterious voice-over that fans have quickly identified as Nuhash Humayun, who is also slated to appear in a significant role.
In a clever nod to contemporary pop culture, the teaser reuses the iconic dialogue "Duita kotha mone rakhbe" from the hit series Mohanagar, injecting a moment of unexpected humour and surprise for the audience.
Director Tanim Noor explained that the film seeks to weave together the isolated stories of the human heart, much like a train connects the distant corners of Bangladesh also stating his intentions to translate the deep humanity of Ahmed's prose into a visual odyssey.
Scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release this Eid-ul-Fitr, Bonolota Express will also begin its international screenings from 3 April, offering global audiences a ticket to this emotional journey.
