I spent my childhood in my village home in Jessore. I celebrated many Eids there. For me, childhood Eid is the real Eid. I have not found the joy of Eid in my later years as I did in my childhood.

In my childhood, I grew up together with my cousins. So the day of Eid was special for us. Our Eid celebration started with going to the tailor's house for making dresses. All our siblings used to go to the tailor's house together in a festive mood. It was a different kind of joy.

Then the day of Eid would come. We would all go out together wearing new dresses. I used to visit my relatives and friends living in the village. Sometimes they also visited us. But we always felt a hurry to return home in the evening.

And there was also a rush to collect salami. Whenever I saw an adult, I would jump up to touch his or her feet for salami. They would give us money. At the end of the day, all our siblings would sit together to calculate the amount of salami.

I have a lot of memories of my childhood days celebrating Eid. Every one of those memories is precious. All in all, like everyone else, I also spent my childhood Eids with a lot of joy.

Now Eid means being busy. Still, I try to stay free on Eid day. However, the Covid-19 pandemic is going on. There is no chance to go outside. So, you have to spend the time at home. On Eid day, I cook with my own hands. This year I will do it again. The rest depends on the situation.
