Biman's newly procured 787-9 will participate in Dubai airshow

Biman Bangladesh Airlines' newly procured 787-9 plane will participate in the Dubai Air Show 2019.

The Boeing Company, an American airplane manufacturer from which the aircraft was purchased, will attend the air show with Biman's aircraft.

Md Mokabbir Hossain, managing director of Biman, confirmed it, saying that the participation is a branding for Biman.

Biman will start its flight to two new destinations – Manchester and Hathrow of London – from January 5, 2020.

The two new aircraft will be added to Biman's fleet by the third week of December, Mokabbir said.

Boeing will participate in the show with Biman's new aircraft from November 17 to 21.

Earlier, Boeing signed an agreement with Biman to present its newly purchased aircraft and Boeing will pay Biman for using its aircraft in the show, according to Biman officials.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited Dubai on Saturday to attend the show.

Earlier in October, the board of the national carrier approved the decision to purchase the two aircraft from Boeing at half the original price. Dubai Air Show is one of the largest and most successful air shows in the world and the biggest aerospace event in the Middle East, Asia and Africa. It will be held at the Dubai World Central (Dubai Al Maktoum Airport).

As many as 87,000 participants and 1,300 exhibitors from all over the world are expected to gather at the Dubai World Central – Dubai's airport of the future.

The biennial air show will once again take over the skies of Dubai on November 17-21, and is expected to surpass the feats of Dubai Airshow 2017, which concluded with an order book worth more than $113.8 billion and welcomed 79,380 attendees and 1,200 exhibitors from 63 countries.
