Brahmanbaria Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Crime) Md Raich Uddin confirmed the transfer to The Business Standard, saying "It was a regular transfer. However, he (Alauddin) will have to leave Brahmanbaria by Wednesday."

Hefazat-e-Islam activists and supporters caused massive violence in Brahmanbaria from March 26 to 28 in protest of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bangladesh. They vandalised and destroyed several government and private establishments including the office of the superintendent of police, outpost no 2 of Sadar police station, office of the civil surgeon, office of the district council, municipality office, Sadar upazila land office and district public library. A total of 55 cases have been filed in these incidents.
