Probe report submitted over Brahmanbaria rail accident
The railways minister will formally brief the media about the probe findings
A probe committee formed by the Bangladesh Railway following the deadly train accident in Brahmanbaria submitted its report of the on Friday. The railways minister will brief the press about the details later.
Head of the probe body Nasir Uddin, divisional transport officer (Chattogram), submitted their findings to Director General of the Bangladesh Railway Mohammad Shamsuzzaman on Friday noon. The official denied disclosing the details, and said, "The minister will formally brief the media about this."
Chattogram-bound Udayan Express from Sylhet and Dhaka-bound Turna Nishita from Chattogram collided at the Mondobagh Railway Station in Kasba upazila under Brahmanbaria district on early Tuesday.

As many as 16 passengers died in the accident while more than 50 others sustained injuries.
The Bangladesh Railway authorities formed three probe committees, and the Railway Ministry and the Brahmanbaria district administration formed one each to investigate the incident.
Nasir Uddin on Thursday evening said they had completed 99 percent of investigation. The committee was working to be clear about some issues including the signals, he added.
The railway official told journalists that the Bangladesh Railway had experienced a loss of Tk37.20 lakh due to the accident. The financial loss caused by the damage of locomotives was estimated at Tk17 lakh, while two coaches worth Tk20 lakh, and rail track worth Tk20,000 also got partially damaged in the accident.
