BanglaCAT: A contributor to Bangladesh’s economic success

For the last 16 years, BanglaCAT has grown to become one of the nation's most prominent organizations in Bangladesh, establishing itself as the largest power generation company in the nation while, simultaneously, working tirelessly to improve the socio-economic conditions of the people who call this country home. Undoubtedly, 2020 was a year in which the world faced some of its greatest obstacles, with Bangladesh being no exception. Businesses were particularly affected in the pandemic but BanglaCAT, despite difficulties, continued to conduct its activities and provide essential services.

But just like Bangladesh – indomitable and resilient –BanglaCAT too has made invaluable contributions to Bangladesh's energy and power sectors and infrastructural progress through strategic foresight and dedication to service. Its employees have continued to provide necessary assistance and energy solutions to important economic sectors, especially the export industry, due to an unwavering commitment to our purpose. Thanks to BanglaCAT, somewhere between 70% to 85% of Bangladesh's export-oriented industries have had their electricity requirements met. Either directly or indirectly, BanglaCAT has become an important partner of Bangladesh's economic progress.

But the economy is not the only place where BanglaCAT has contributed. When the country was hit by Covid-19 last year, it was of the utmost importance that essential services, such as hospitals, diagnostic centers, and pharmaceutical companies, received an uninterrupted supply of power to function. BanglaCAT and its invaluable employees worked round the clock to ensure that this uninterrupted supply of power was provided.

Caterpillar, also referred to as CAT, is a renowned Fortune500 company from America. BanglaCAT is their exclusive authorized dealer. Because of this, BanglaCAT has become a name that inspires confidence in the nation's leading industries, a name that organizations trust to meet their power needs. This has led to BanglaCAT becoming the largest service provider in self-managed power generation in Bangladesh's industrial sector.

BanglaCAT is also one of the largest gas engine traders in the world. According to BanglaCAT's Chief Marketing Officer, Mr. Tareq Ahmed, BanglaCAT's generators collectively generate "more than 4,000MW of electricity, which contributes immensely to the overall power generation of the country and keeps the economy float." Examples of this contribution can be found in almost every sector, from RMG sector to steel, agro-processing to food and beverage, from chemicals to pharmaceuticals, each of these industries has relied on BanglaCAT as a source of uninterrupted electricity. This goes to show that CAT's products and services are unmatched in the industry, providing customers with the confidence they need.

One of the ways in which BanglaCAT continues to earn this confidence is through its pre-sales and after-sales services. It is committed to meeting the needs of our customers and business partners with the utmost efficiency and sincerity, providing the right technical solutions for their projects, essential product support, and maintaining system integration through system management, monitoring, and control. This is reflected in the words of its Chief Product Officer, Mr. Ruhul Amin, "BanglaCAT prioritizes the establishment of long-term relationships with its customers and create an environment of trust." The country's leading industrial and business federations have predicted that BanglaCAT will continue to play a leading role in the nation's socio-economic development.

50 years ago, Bangladesh became an independent nation. At the time, it only had the capacity to generate 300MW of electricity, with the Kaptai Hydroelectric Project in Ghorashal, Siddhirganj being the main source of production. Most people and places did not have access to electricity. Even in Dhaka, there were placed which did not have electricity coverage.

With days away from Bangladesh's 50th birthday, the country is now providing almost 100% electricity coverage. It has become the epitome of a nation that has risen from the ashes of war and poverty only to establish itself as one of the emerging economies of the world.

The challenges of 2020 were not only new, but were significant enough to sink us completely. But we didn't. We persevered, through sheer determination and will. With this in mind, BanglaCAT wishes to take this nation forward and further on the path of prosperity, once again working hand in hand with the nation to face the challenges to come with determination.
