Popular actress Hilary Duff is going to play the lead role on "How I Met Your Mother" sequel series

The Hulu series titled "How I Met Your Father" will star Duff as Sophia who tells her son in the future how she met his father beginning in the year 2021, reports Variety. 

This Is Us co-showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger will write and executively produce the series while Duff will serve as a producer.

"How I Met Your Mother" creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas will also return as executive producers

"How I Met Your Mother" aired on CBS for nine seasons and over 200 episodes from 2005-2014. The series starred Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel, and Alyson Hannigan.
