The Navy won the gold medal by defeating the Bangladesh Army by 56-52 points in a thrilling final match at the Dhanmondi Basketball Gymnasium on Thursday.

Bangabandhu Navy has become the Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games basketball (men) champion.

The Navy won the gold medal by defeating the Bangladesh Army by 56-52 points in a thrilling final match at the Dhanmondi Basketball Gymnasium on Thursday.

The Bangladesh Army was unbeatable in the first quarter. They were ahead by 21-9 points.

However, the Bangladesh Navy dominated the remaining three quarters.

They had the last laugh with the brilliant skill of captain Shoaib.

Shoaib scored the highest 22 points in his team while Mithun scored 13 points.

Tony scored a maximum of 22 points for the Army. Barkat scored 10 points.

At the end of the final, Secretary-General of Bangladesh Olympic Association Syed Shahed Reza presented medals and certificates to the players of Navy, Army, Rajshahi District (Champion, Runners-up and 3rd place).

Bangladesh Basketball Federation President and former MP were present at the time. Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin. Also present were Vice President Moinul Ahsan Monju, General Secretary and Secretary-General of the South Asian Basketball Association AK Sarkar, Joint Secretary Khairul Alam Farhad, Treasurer Wasif Ali and other officials of the Federation.

The competition started on April 4 with the participation of 12 teams. The Navy won the last gold medal in the five-day battle. The army won silver. Rajshahi district lost to Air Force and won bronze.
