Streaming platform Bongo plans to launch the first season of 'Bongo BOB (Based on Books)' "to set a new industry standard for content" during Eid-Ul-Fitr.

Bongo has increased its production capacity over the last few years to produce more originals. It has partnered with noted and popular authors in the country for this unique collaboration.

Through a refined selection process starting at Ekushey Book Fair last year, it has selected some of the best-seller books and going to produce content based on these books, according to a press release.

Detailing the project, Bongo says, "In Bangladesh, cinema was once called a "Boi" or Book. Maybe it's because the early journey of filmmaking started from the inspiration of different books and literature. Like the first silent film of the subcontinent 'Bilvamangal' and the first film with dialogue 'Jamaishti', Bangladesh's first talking film 'Mukh O Mukhosh' was also literary-dependent.

"This literary reliance has not only enriched the Bengali film but also brought it a commercial success as well as international recognition. Films around the world are no exception. Looking at the world of movies at the moment, we can see that all of the world-famous superhero movies are made from comic books published by Marvel and DC Comics. The journey of this duo of books and movies is eternal."

Mushfiqur Rahman, Chief Content Officer of Bongo, also explained the initiative, saying, "Bongo BOB is our dream project. Its continuity will be maintained. We have dreams and plans to make dramas, telefilms as well as films very soon through the Bongo BOB series'.'

"We've secured the book rights for the entire season. Now we're excited to launch the country's first series of book adaptations," he added.
List of selected books for the first season of Bongo BOB includes Shahaduz Zaman Rochonashongroho-1 and three of its stories named Opushpok, Borka and Chithi; Moronottom by Sadat Hossain, Chorer Master Computer Engineer by Rahitul Islam, Alibaba O Chalichar by Shibabrata Barman, Nova Scotia by Mahbub Morshed, Hakulla by Jobaed Ahsan and Laboni by Maruf Rehman.

The first season of Bongo BOB is going to showcase seven telefilms on the upcoming Eid-Ul-Fitr made by seven renowned Bangladeshi directors.

Shohore Tukro Roud (based on the story Tukro Roder Moto Kham from Shahaduz Zaman Rochonashongroho-1) will be directed by Noor Imran Mithu, Moronottom by Sanjoy Samadder, Chorer Master by Vicky Zahed, Alibaba O Chalichar by Animesh Aich, Password (from the book Nova Scotia) by Wahid Tarek, Hakulla by Iftekhar Ahmed Fahmi and Laboni by Golam Haider Kisloo.

In addition to these telefilms, Bongo is also pre-planning Season 2 of BOB with two Web Series based on the books titled Rongila Kitab by Kingkor Ahsan and OC-Hotnama by Jobaed Ahsan.

Bongo plans to launch its first production on the Bongo flagship OTT product that is available on Android, IOS and www.bongobd.com. With 15,000 hours of content library, the Bongo BOB series will further add exciting content quality for its viewers, Bongo said.
