Govt orders all madrasas to close
Only orphanages will remain open
The government has ordered all Qawmi and others madrasas to close until further notice amid the growing Covid-19 cases in the country.
In a gazette notification, the education ministry on Tuesday said the order had been issued earlier to close all educational institutions, including madrasas, till 22 May as Covid-19 cases had been rising steeply.
"A lockdown has been imposed in the country. But some residential and non-residential madrasas are still open, which is highly risky. So, Qawmi and all other madrasas will remain closed until further notice," the notification added.

Only orphanages will remain open.
Moulana Nurul Islam, vice-president of Befaqul Madarisil Arabia Bangladesh, which is the Qawmi madrasa board, told The Business Standard they had closed all Qawmi madrasas after getting the government directives on 25 March.
Asked about holding the Dawra-e-Hadith, equivalent to master's examinations, he said it is the Qawmi madrasa board's decision and declined to say anything further.
The Qawmi madrasa board has been holding Dawra-e-Hadith from 3 April amid the surge in coronavirus infections.
Earlier in July last year, the government allowed Qawmi madrasas to operate their academic activities although all educational institutions were closed at that time.
