Govt takes preparations for combating Bulbul: State minister

State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman said the government has taken necessary preparations to combat the cyclonic storm Bulbul. 

The government has taken full preparation to protect the people from the effect of the cyclone, he said. 

Weekly holidays were cancelled for all government officials in the coastal districts to keep them ready for rescue operations, the state minister told journalists at a press briefing after attending a meeting at the ministry's conference room in the city.

High officials of the disaster management and relief ministry were present in the meeting. 

The state minister also said, "We have already sent 14,000 packets of dry food and Tk35 lakh in cash to Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola and Jhalokathi to distribute among the victims."
