Noakhali's Basurhat municipality mayor Abdul Quader Mirza has announced his resignation from Companiganj Upazila Awami League.

He was a member of the unit.

"I have become a bad person to everyone as I spoke out against all the irregularities. I will not be in a party where there is no respect. But I will cooperate with the good leaders and workers of the party. I have become a member of Bangabandhu Education and Research Council and I will continue to work from there," Quader Mirza said during a Facebook live today.

He also urged Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to expel corrupt people from the party.

Criticising Obaidul Quader, Mirza said, "He had bowed down to the evil forces for securing his position. A mental gap was created with Obaidul Quader the day my younger brother Delwar committed suicide by hanging himself."
