Indian war veterans pay courtesy call on Navy chief
The delegation of the Indian Armed Forces is scheduled to return to the country on 29 March after their five-day state visit.
A delegation of 30 Indian armed forces war veterans led by Major General Narayan Shankar Nari (Retd), who assisted in the Liberation War of Bangladesh paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh's Chief of the Navy Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal.
The meeting was held at Sagarika Hall of the Naval Headquarters in Banani on Sunday, read a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The delegation has come to Bangladesh to take part in various events organised on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's Independence. As part of the visit, they had a courtesy meeting with the Chief of Naval Staff at noon.

During the meeting, India's strong role in achieving Bangladesh's independence was appreciated. India's invaluable role in making Operation Jackpot a success in 1971 at the call of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was mentioned.
Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal hoped that the Bangladesh Navy will continue to work to further strengthen the existing friendly relations with India.
