Army chief meets delegation of Indian members of Allied Force

Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed met with a delegation of Indian Armed Forces, who fought in the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971 against the Pakistani Army, at the Army Headquarters in Dhaka Cantonment on Sunday.

At the meeting, General Aziz remembered the contribution of the heroic fighters during the war of independence with deep respect and expressed his sincere gratitude to them, according to a press statement by the Inter Service Public Relation Directorate (ISPR). 

The members of the delegation appreciated the overall development of the Bangladesh Army and wished it further progress. Later, the army chief presented greetings to the Indian delegation.

Earlier in the day, the Indian delegation paid homage to the members of the armed forces who were martyred during the war by laying wreaths at Shikha Anirban in Dhaka Cantonment. After their meeting with General Aziz, the delegation paid a courtesy call to Lieutenant General Waker-uz-Zaman, Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces. 

Led by Major General (Retd) Narayan Shankar Nair, the Indian delegation arrived in Dhaka on 25 March on a state visit.

The visiting team laid a wreath at the National Memorial on 26 March in memory of the heroic martyrs. Besides, they visited the Liberation War Museum and Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Kalihati area of Tangail. The delegation will return to India on Monday.
