A follower of Bashurhat municipal Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza, has filed a case against the person who was shot dead in a clash between two Awami League groups in Noakhali's Companiganj.

Salah Uddin Piton filed the case accusing 105 people including Ala Uddin, 30, a CNG driver and Sramik League activist, was killed in a shootout between the two factions of the ruling party on 9 March. 

Ala Uddin's younger brother Emdad Hossain has also been accused in the case.

Piton filed the case in the Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court No. 2 on Monday afternoon. 

Later, Judge SM Mosleh Uddin Mizan directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to take up the case and take action.

The clash between supporters of Quader Mirza and other Awami League activists in Noakhali's Companiganj upazila left Ala Uddin dead and more than 30 others injured, many with gunshot wounds on 9 March.

Awami League (AL) leader Mizanur Rahman Badal, the rival of Abdul Quader Mirza, was arrested on Thursday from Noakhali over the clash between two factions of the ruling party.

Earlier on 19 February, local journalist Muzakkir was killed in a clash between two groups.
