Farah Nasser made Bangladesh Bank deputy governor
He will serve the bank for the next three years
The government has appointed Abu Farah Mohammad Nasser as Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank on a contract basis, who was previously on post-retirement leave (PRL) from the post of Executive Director.
The Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance has issued a gadget notification saying Nasser has been appointed deputy governor for the next three years on condition that his PRL will be suspended.
He will serve till age 62, which is 23 February 2024.
Farah Nasser started his career as a senior officer of Agrani Bank. Later he joined Bangladesh Bank in 1988 as an assistant director. He holds a bachelors and master's degree in accounting from Dhaka University.
He has served in various important departments of the bank before becoming the fourth deputy governor.
Currently, Ahmed Jamal, Kazi Sayedur Rahman and AKM Sajedur Rahman Khan are serving as deputy governors.
After serving as Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, Ahmed Jamal became deputy governor on 1 March 2018.
Kazi Saidur Rahman was appointed deputy governor on 22 November 2020.
AKM Sajedur Rahman Khan, former managing director of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank, was appointed on 3 December 2020.
