The passengers will be able to buy train tickets five days before their journeys, instead of 10 days.

The Railway authorities issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday, saying the directive is effective from 5 April.

At the same time, the authorities revised the refunding policy with new rules that tickets can be returned subject to deduction of service charges.

In such cases, service charge will be Tk40 for AC compartment tickets, Tk30 for first class and Tk25 for others. Passengers must return their tickets at least two days before their journeys.

If one wants to return the ticket with less than 48 hours left for the trip, 25 percent of the fare will be deducted and the rest will be refunded.

If the ticket is returned in between 24 hours and 12 hours prior to the departure of the train and 50 percent will be deducted.

However, the ticket will not be refundable within less than 6 hours of the departure of the train.
