Mandatory quarantine for bankers relaxed
The Banking Regulation and Policy Department issued instructions to banks on 22 March last year on what to do to prevent the outbreak of the virus
The Bangladesh Bank has relaxed the mandatory quarantine guidelines for bankers who are infected with Covid-19 or come in contact with an infected person.
The Central Bank's Banking Regulation and Policy Department (BRPD) issued instructions in this regard on Tuesday that reads the board of directors of the bank concerned may decide on the leave of the officials who have come in contact with or are infected by the virus as well as pregnant officials.
The directive on Tuesday further said the necessary meetings and seminars of the banks should be organised through a virtual medium. In the case of special needs, the guidelines of the World Health Organisation should be followed.

In addition, going abroad for any official purpose should be discouraged but in case of emergency, it can be done subject to the approval of the appropriate authority.
Other instructions will remain unchanged.
The BRPD issued instructions to banks on 22 March last year on what to do to prevent the outbreak of the virus.
According to the directive, a bank employee who is infected with or has come in contact with an infected person should be sent to a mandatory 14-day leave on the basis of a medical certificate.
This leave will be considered as paid working days.
