Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (LGRD) Minister Tajul Islam has said honouring the geniuses boosts their enthusiasm to takes new initiatives.

So, the geniuses must be recognised for their achievement as it benefits the common people, said the LGRD minister as the chief guest at the Global Business and CSR Awards organised by the Bangladesh-American Chamber of Commerce USA (Bangladesh Chapter) on Saturday.

While addressing the guest at the programme, State Minister for Information Md Murad Hasan said the news of honouring eminent people from the corporate and other sectors should be given more attention so that it could be disseminated.

Dr Md Enamur Rahman, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief, said, "I am grateful to the organisers for honouring the individuals and organisations who have contributed to the Covid-19-affected year.

He also requested the chamber of commerce to organise the event regularly.

Abdul Monem Limited (posthumous), Ali Jaker, (posthumous) Nurul Islam Babul, (posthumous), Syed Shahriar Ahsan (insurance sector), Farida Yeasmin (female journalist) and FR Khan (engineering services) have been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden.

Among others, Dr Shahjahan Mahmud, Chairman, Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company Limited; Kamal Uddin, President, Youth Commercial Communication International; Alexander Weissler, Manager, Radisson and over 300 guests were present on the occasion. 

Raju Alim, vice-president of the chamber of commerce, said various individuals and organisations have served 17 crore of people amid the pandemic.

"We would have been happy if we could reward them all, which is not possible. So, we have organised the event on a small scale. However, such arrangements will continue, he added.

Those who received the Best CSR Award are Dhaka WASA Director General Taksim A Khan, Power Cell Director General Mohammad Hossain, Bengal Group Vice Chairman Jasim Uddin, Giant Group Managing Director Faruk Hasan, Metrocem Group Managing Director Md Shahidullah, Bscic Chairman Mushtaq Hasan, bKash CEO Kamal Quadir, ACCA Country Manager Ehsanul Haque Bashar, Prime Bank Chairman and Managing Director Mohammad Mahtabur Rahman, Prime Bank Chairman Tanjil Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Barrister Shah Ali Farhad, Managing Director of Zenith Pharmaceuticals Dr Belal Uddin Ahmed, NBR Connect TV Chairman and CEO Abu Bakar Hanif, Trust Bank Managing Director and CEO Farooq Moinuddin Ahmed, Bank Asia Managing Director and CEO Arfan Ali, Guardian Life Insurance Managing Director Amberin Reza, Medical Specialist Dr Jubayer Ahmed, Rupayan City Managing Director Nasima Akter Nisha, HerNet Television CEO Alisha Pradhan, and Nanjiba Khan.

Prof Dr Mamun Al Mahtab, Prof Dr Nuzhat Chowdhury, Bobby Hajjaj, Rasna Imam, Tahsin Aman, Nusrat Firoz Aman, Mostafa Khalid Palash, Sajia Islam Anton, Shehnaz Sams, Sigma Mehdi, Prof Imran Rahman, Humaira Khan, Salauddin Chowdhury and Maksuda Chowdhury received the Power Couple Award.

At the programme, a documentary cum short film named The Unwanted Twin was screened. 

The event partner for the Global Business and CSR Awards was Television and Press Media (Telepress), the co-partner was Hornet Television and the implementation partner was The Flag Girl.

Television and Press Media (Telepress) was the even partner while HerNet Television was the co-partner. The Flag Girl was the implementation partner.
