Army chief inaugurates a 10-bed hospital in Chandpur
The Bangladesh Army is ready to fulfil any responsibilities entrusted to it, General Aziz Ahmed said
A 10-bed Mother and Child Welfare Centre has been established at Matlab Uttar upazila in Chandpur.
Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed on Sunday inaugurated the hospital named after his father Abdul Wadud Sarkar, said an ISPR press release.
To mark the inauguration of "Abdul Wadud Sarkar 10-bed Mother and Child Welfare Centre", Gen Aziz Ahmed visited his ancestral village for the first time since assuming the role of army chief.

After the inaugural ceremony, General Aziz Ahmed said the Bangladesh Army is ready to fulfil any responsibilities entrusted to it.
"We are responsible for the country…. we are obliged to discharge any duties for the country," he said.
General Aziz said "When the prime minister declared war on the Covid-19 pandemic, we worked for the country, risking our lives. Around 1,100-1,200 army members worked in 62 of the 64 districts to raise awareness, distribute masks and other equipment amongst communities."
"We provided healthcare by building makeshift hospitals during the pandemic. Army members also provided treatment to expectant mothers who were unable to go to the hospital," he said.
Chandpur-2 constituency MP Md Nurul Amin, senior government and army officials also attended the inauguration event.
