High Court gets nine new judges
Court administration source said, Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain will administer oath to the newly appointed judges on Monday.

President Abdul Hamid has appointed nine additional judges to the High Court Division of the Supreme Court.
Law Ministry issued a gazette notification on their appointment today.
The judges are – Deputy Attorney General Kazi Ebadat Hossain, Deputy Attorney General KM Zahid Sarwar Kajal, Deputy Attorney General Zinat Haque, Supreme Court Registrar General (Senior District Judge) Dr. Zakir Hossain, District Judge (Enjoying LPR) Shahed Nur Uddin, District Judge Dr Akhtaruzzaman, former deputy attorney general AKM Zahirul Haque, Supreme Court lawyer Mahmud Hasan Talukder and District Judge (Enjoying LPR) Mahbub-ul-Islam.

Among the newly appointed justices, Shahed Nuruddin was the judge in many important trials, including August 21 grenade attack case, ex-lawmaker Ahsanullah Master murder case, Buet student Sony murder case, Pichchi Hannan murder case, advocate Habibur Rahman Mondol murder case and Sultana Ponni murder case.
Shahed Nuruddin joined the judiciary department as a munsif on April 20, 1983. He was promoted to a district judge on February 20, 2000.
He took his leave preparatory to retirement from January 31 this year.
Akhtaruzzaman was the judge in numerous much-talked-about trials, including two cases filed over the Pilkhana massacre and Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and its acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman.
