Don’t make hypocritical statements about freedom of speech in Bangladesh: Joy

Prime Minister's ICT Adviser and CRI Chairperson Sajeeb Wazed Joy has urged the US Embassy in Dhaka as well as other western embassies to refrain from making any hypocritical statements regarding the freedom of speech in Bangladesh.
"I want the US Embassy in Dhaka, as well as other western embassies to take note of this post. We do not want to see hypocritical statements from you in the future regarding freedom of speech in Bangladesh anymore," said Wazed in a Facebook post on Saturday.
The status came from Sajeeb Wazed's verified Facebook page after Twitter permanently banned United States President Donald Trump's account from its platform on Friday.

"Everyone has the right to freedom of speech, but that freedom ends when you spread falsehoods that end up hurting others. No one has the right to hurt others," added Wazed in his post.
Comparing the state of freedom of speech in the US and Bangladesh's Digital Security Act Wazed said that the US government lets private companies dictate the decisions of banning.
"This is the limit of freedom of speech in the United States. For all of those who complain about our Digital Security Act, in the US the Government lets private companies dictate," said Joy.
Wazed believing that the act of such suspension should not be dictated by Private Companies said: "In Bangladesh we believe that it should not be up to private companies, but up to the courts to decide."
