The price of gold has shot up by Tk 1,983 per bhari in the local market. 

With the latest hike, the price of each bhari of 22-carat gold stood at Tk74,650. 

Bangladesh Jewellers' Samity took the decision tonight and it will be effective from tomorrow morning, reports Prothom Alo.

At the same time, the price of 21-carat gold stood at Tk71,500 while 18-carat gold at Tk 62,752 and traditional gold at Tk52,430 per bhari. 

However, the price of silver will remain unchanged. 

Earlier on 2 December, the jewelry traders had scaled down the prices of gold by TK1,166.
