Radwan encourages people to wear masks, maintain distance

Radwan Mujib Siddiq, Trustee of Centre for Research and Information (CRI), has pointed out people's reluctance in wearing masks and maintaining physical distancing; and encouraged all to maintain those mandatory rules reminding that Covid-19 pandemic is not over yet.

"The science is irrefutable when it comes to wearing masks and keeping a minimum distance away from people where possible - so why not follow it?" Radwan, grandson of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, wrote on his verified Facebook account on Wednesday.

He said it is very surprising to see so many photos of people without masks, huddling together, often indoors, at meetings, parties, conferences, family gatherings, hang-outs etc.

Government officials, politicians, diplomats, international organisation staff, aid workers, NGO personnel, entertainers, private sector employees - the list goes on, he mentioned.

"Too many people are acting as if the pandemic is over. But it's really not," Radwan said.

Twenty-two people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8:00 am Wednesday), according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of deaths has now reached 7,531 and the death rate stands at 1.47 percent.
