Certain quarter trying to create confusion by spreading rumors: Army chief

Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed has called upon all military personnel to stay alert as a certain quarter with ill intention is trying to create confusion by spreading rumours about the military.

"The insidious quarter will not be able to spread confusion in the army with these rumours in any way. The military is working with more discipline and professionalism now than they did at any other time in the past," Gen Aziz said at the flag hoisting ceremony of the newly built Military Dental Centre at the Dhaka Cantonment on Sunday.

A contingent of Army Dental Corps paraded and saluted the Chief of Army Staff when he arrived at the venue, said a press release from the Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR) Directorate.

After hoisting the flag, the chief of army staff commemorated Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with respect in his speech.

Recalling all the heroic freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the Liberation War, he called upon the Military Dental Centre to be ready to accept the highest sacrifices in any need of the motherland and to provide quality services by achieving the highest standards of professionalism.

The ISPR said under the direction of Bangabandhu, the journey of Army Dental Corps started in 1972 with four dental surgeons in newly independent Bangladesh.

But later, due to lack of skilled manpower and administrative reasons, the Military Dental Centers were integrated as the dental wing of Combined Military Hospital.

In 2017, as part of the Forces Goal 2030 formulated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Army Dental Corps separately started its new journey with the establishment of 23 Military Dental Centers.

Senior Army officials were present at the event, which was organised under the overall management of the Headquarters Logistics Area, said the ISPR.
