Wari child was raped before murder

The seven-year-old schoolgirl, who was strangled at an empty apartment in Dhaka’s Wari area, was raped before being murdered. Head of Forensics at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Professor Dr Sohel Mahmud confirmed the rape on Saturday citing the autopsy report.

“Wound marks have been found on her genitals. Moreover, there were injury marks on the lips,” said the doctor requesting the press to wait for the details.

The victim -- Samia Afrin Sayma, a nursery level student of Silverdale School -- was found dead on Friday at an under-construction flat. Her family lives on the sixth floor of that building.

6 suspects detained over Wari girl murder

The kid left her apartment after taking permission from her mother to play with other neighbouring children as she did every day.

She remained missing since then. Her family called police after discovering the blood-stained body lying on the floor with a rope around the neck.

Abdus Salam, father of the deceased, filed a case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Wari Police Station. Police on Saturday detained six people including the owner of the building for their suspected involvement, Wari Police OC Azizur Rahman told The Business Standard.
