Bangladesh confirmed 37 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 6,524, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the last 24 hours, 2,292 people tested positive for Covid-19 and the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 456,438.

The latest day's infection rate was 13.44% of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 16.82%. The death rate stands at 1.43%.

Also, 2,274 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 371,453 with an 81.38% recovery rate.

Among the latest day's victims, 25 were men and 12 were women. All of them died in different hospitals across the country.

Moreover, 29 of them hailed from Dhaka, three from Chattogram, three from Rajshahi and two from Rangpur division.

Meanwhile, 17,052 samples were tested in 118 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 2,713,202 samples have been tested in the country so far.

The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims' shows that 5,007 of the total deceased were men and 1,517 were women.

A total 206 patients suspected of having Covid-19 were taken into isolation while 185 left isolation in the last 24 hours. Now, 12,604 people are staying in different isolation units across the country.

The country's maiden cases were reported on March 8 this year and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.

The world has entered in the tenth month of the pandemic. At the time of writing, the virus has infected more than 60,794,981 people and close to 1,428,215 people died.
