The country’s death toll from the virus now stands at 6,127

Bangladesh has logged 19 more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours till Wednesday 8am. In the meantime, 1,733 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

Earlier on Tuesday, covid-19 daily deaths was 16 and new cases were 1,699.

The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 6,127, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Now, the overall number of novel coronavirus cases in the country stands at 4, 25,353.

The latest day's infection rate was 11.93% of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 17.12%. The death rate stands at 1.44%.

Among the latest day's victims, 16 were men and three were women. 15 of them hailed from Dhaka, three from Chattogram and one from Rangpur.

All the deceased died in hospital.

Meanwhile, 14,524 samples were tested in 115 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 24, 84,688 samples have been tested in the country so far.

Also, 1,715 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 3,43,131 with an 80.67% recovery rate.

The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 4,719 of the total deceased were men while 1,408 were women.

The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March this year, and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
