In the past 24 hours till Sunday 8am, 1,474 people were infected afresh while 18 people died

Highlights:

  • Total infected: 420,238
  • Total death: 6,067
  • Total recovery: 338,145
  • Total sample test: 2,442,602

With 1,474 fresh cases, Bangladesh's Covid-19 count has crossed the 4.20 lakh mark within eight months of the first reported infection.

The number of fatalities from Covid-19 infection has reached 6,067 now with 18 more deaths in the last 24 hours till Sunday 8am, according to a press release of Directorate General of Health Services.

The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March this year and the first death from the virus on 18 March.

The latest daily infection rate was 11.55% of the total tests though the overall rate till date is 17.20% in the country. The death rate stands at 1.44%.

Among the latest day's victims, 14 were men and four were women. Seventeen of them died in different hospitals across the country while one at home.

Moreover, nine of them hailed from Dhaka, three from Chattogram, two each from Khulna and Rangpur and one each from Sylhet and Barishal divisions.

Meanwhile, 12,760 samples were tested in 114 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 2,442,602 samples have been tested in the country so far.

Also, 1,577 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 338,145 with an 80.47% recovery rate.

The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 4,671 of the total deceased were men and 1,396 were women.

Ninety-nine Covid-19 suspected patients were taken into isolation and 118 left in the last 24 hours. Now, 12,142 people are staying in different isolation units across the country.
