Prioritise technical, vocational education: Minister
The education minister said that to reduce the gap between education and the workplace, industrial enterprises can offer students opportunities for training and research. This, he said, would help prepare students for real-world work environments while also better aligning the education system with the needs of the industrial sector.
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has emphasised prioritising technical and vocational education and training in light of Bangladesh's current realities, stressing that transforming the country's population into skilled human resources requires developing students' skills and career-oriented education, along with effective linkages between education and industry to expand opportunities for student training and research.
Speaking as chief guest at the Meghna Group of Industries (MGI) Marketing Alumni Association Scholarship 2026 distribution ceremony, held today (23 September) at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of Dhaka University, Ehsanul Haque Milon said Bangladesh's demographic dividend can only be harnessed by turning the country's vast population into skilled human resources, which requires ensuring maximum utilization of students' talent and skills.
Speaking on students' careers, he said there is no obligation to remain in the same profession for life simply because one studied a particular subject, rather, students should use their talent and skills to create opportunities for themselves across various fields. Citing an example from his own academic life, he said that although he studied chemistry, he later completed an MBA, a decision he made to build himself differently in his professional life.

The event was attended by Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam and Meghna Group of Industries Director Barrister Tasnim Mostofa, along with university faculty members, former students of the Marketing Department, and scholarship recipients.
