India rejects OIC references to Jammu and Kashmir, urges group to counsel Pakistan
New Delhi says the OIC has no locus standi on matters it considers internal to India and accused Pakistan of supporting and sponsoring terrorism.
India has rejected references to Jammu and Kashmir in a communiqué issued by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group, saying the group should instead advise Pakistan to address terrorism emanating from territory under its control.
"India categorically rejects the unwarranted and factually incorrect references to India in the Joint Communiqué of the so-called OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir," India's Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement today (23 September).
The ministry said the OIC "has no locus standi to pronounce on matters that are strictly internal to India".

"The entire Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of India and no amount of repetition of politically motivated propaganda can change this reality," it said.
The statement added that repeated endorsement of what it called "motivated narratives" raised questions about the credibility of the OIC.
New Delhi also criticised the OIC for providing Pakistan with a platform, saying the organisation would be "better advised to counsel Pakistan".
Pakistan, India said, has a "well-documented record of supporting and sponsoring terrorism" and should instead "look inwards and address the continuing threat of terrorism emanating from territories under its control".
