Jamuna Bank signs agreements for three Bangladesh Bank refinance schemes
Jamuna Bank PLC has signed participation agreements with Bangladesh Bank under refinance schemes for the development of the ICT sector, export diversification, and the establishment of green industries and green factory buildings to expand financing support for its customers.
The agreements were signed at the Sustainable Finance Department of Bangladesh Bank at its head office, enabling eligible Jamuna Bank customers to access refinance facilities under the central bank's applicable guidelines and eligibility criteria, according to the press release.
Jamuna Bank PLC Managing Director and CEO Mirza Elias Uddin Ahmed and Bangladesh Bank Sustainable Finance Department Director AKM Nurunnabi signed the agreements on behalf of their respective organisations.
Under the arrangements, eligible Jamuna Bank customers will be able to access refinance facilities in line with Bangladesh Bank's applicable guidelines and eligibility criteria.
The schemes are aimed at expanding financing for the information and communication technology sector, supporting export diversification and promoting environmentally sustainable industrial development.
The refinance facility for the ICT sector is intended to support businesses operating in technology-related areas and facilitate investment in the country's growing digital economy.
The export diversification scheme aims to widen financing opportunities for eligible export-oriented businesses seeking to develop new products and markets beyond traditional export sectors.
The green industry and green factory building scheme is designed to encourage investment in environmentally sustainable industrial facilities and production practices.
Jamuna Bank Head of Sustainable Finance Unit Mohammad Prashanta Samir and Assistant Vice President Md Syful Islam, along with senior officials of Bangladesh Bank, were present at the signing ceremony.
Through its participation in the three refinance schemes, Jamuna Bank aims to broaden financing opportunities for eligible customers in the ICT, export and green industry sectors while supporting sustainable business growth and investment.
