Two more witnesses testified today (16 September) in the case against former land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed and 35 others over the alleged embezzlement and laundering of Tk25 crore.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Public Prosecutor Mokarram Hossain confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.

"Two witnesses testified in the case today. With this, a total of 45 witnesses have testified so far. The next hearing has been fixed for 21 September," he said.
According to case documents and information from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Tk25 crore was taken as a loan from United Commercial Bank in the name of Vision Trading in violation of the bank's lending policies and rules.
The loan was allegedly obtained using forged and fabricated documents between October 2019 and February 2020. The loan money was later allegedly sent abroad through hundi, according to the commission.
On 11 March, the court formally framed charges against former land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed and 35 others, marking the start of the trial proceedings.
The case has 92 witnesses, whose evidence is being recorded in phases as the trial continues.
