Sinha murder: Ex-constable Rubel sent to jail after 5-day remand

Former constable at Cox's Bazar Police Station Rubel Sharma, accused of having connections with the murder of Major (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan, was sent to jail on Thursday after a five-day remand.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) took him to the court of Cox's Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah (Teknaf-4) around noon.
Later, he was sent to jail in the afternoon as the RAB did not apply for his further remand.

The investigating officer, Khairul Alam, assistant superintendent of police at RAB-15, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
"In the second remand, a lot of important information about the Sinha murder case was obtained from Rubel. Necessary steps will be taken after verifying those," he said.
Earlier, the same court granted his five-day remand on 28 October and it also granted a seven-day remand to Rubel Sharma on 30 September.
On 14 September, a team of RAB arrested Constable Rubel Sharma, the lattermost arrestee, over the Sinha murder case.
Sinha was killed in police firing at Shamlapur police check-post at Teknaf's Baharchhara union, on Cox's Bazar Marine Drive, on the night of 31 July.
Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, Sinha's elder sister, filed a case at the Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court on 5 August over the murder.
On 6 August, seven members of the police surrendered to the court. In the last one month, RAB arrested 14 people, including 3 members of Units Armed Police Battalion, and remanded them for various terms.
