NCC Bank donates Tk1 crore to DCH for CT scanner
NCC Bank PLC has donated Tk 1 crore to Dhaka Community Hospital (DCH) to purchase a modern CT scanner, aiming to strengthen the hospital's diagnostic capacity and expand access to affordable healthcare.
The bank provided the financial assistance from its corporate social responsibility fund, which is expected to enable faster diagnosis and treatment, particularly for trauma, stroke, emergency, and cancer patients, according to a press release.
At a recent ceremony at NCC Bank's head office, Chairman of NCC Bank Md Nurun Newaz Salim handed over a cheque to Acting Chairman of the DCH Trust Quazi Habibur Rhaman.
The 500-bed non-profit hospital provides affordable healthcare to low-income and disadvantaged communities. However, the absence of its own high-resolution CT scanning facility has limited its capacity to provide timely diagnostic services.
Speaking at the event, Md Nurun Newaz Salim said ensuring affordable and accessible healthcare was an important part of the bank's commitment to society.
"The installation of this high-capacity CT scan machine at Dhaka Community Hospital will enable patients to receive rapid diagnosis and treatment while alleviating some of the financial burden on them and their families," he said.
Managing Director of NCC Bank M Shamsul Arefin said one of the bank's key CSR objectives was to ensure healthcare for low-income and disadvantaged people, particularly those suffering from critical illnesses.
"This assistance aims to enhance the diagnostic capabilities of Dhaka Community Hospital and help deliver essential healthcare to more people at an affordable cost," he said.
Quazi Habibur Rahman thanked NCC Bank for its support.
"Starting with just 20 beds, Dhaka Community Hospital has now grown into a 500-bed healthcare facility. We remain committed to serving those who cannot afford expensive treatment," he said.
"This support from NCC Bank will fill a crucial gap in our diagnostic services, enabling us to provide essential CT scan services more efficiently and cost-effectively," he added.
NCC Bank Vice Chairman Engineer Abdus Salam; Chairman of the Executive Committee Khairul Alam Chaklader; Directors Syed Asif Nizamuddin, Mohammed Sazzad Un Newaz and Morshedul Alam Chaklader; Additional Managing Director M Khurshed Alam; Deputy Managing Director Md Habibur Rahman; and Company Secretary (Current Charge) Md Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, FCS, attended the ceremony.
