Global renewable capacity climbed 15.5% in 2025 to 5,149 gigawatts, up from 4,457 gigawatts a year earlier—an increase of 692 gigawatts. Solar power led the surge, making up 47% of total capacity at 2,392 gigawatts, a 27.2% jump from 1,880 gigawatts in 2024.
