VoB job fair connects DU students with employers
Voice of Business (VoB) concluded its two-day Job Fair 2026 at the University of Dhaka's Faculty of Business Studies on 17 August, bringing students and fresh graduates together with employers and industry professionals.
Held on 16–17 August, the event was powered by Pubali Bank PLC, co-powered by City Bank and organised in association with New Zealand Dairy. A press release said it featured company booths, recruitment activities, career sessions and networking opportunities for students and fresh graduates.
The event began with an inauguration ceremony attended by University of Dhaka Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Abdus Salam, Faculty of Business Studies Dean Dr Mahmood Osman Imam, and Pubali Bank PLC Managing Director Mohammad Ali, among other guests.
VoB President Md Tawhid Uddin Alvi said, "The VoB Job Fair 2026 reflects our commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and professional opportunities."
Dr Mahmood Osman Imam stressed the importance of pursuing careers with a clear purpose.
"Build not only a successful career, but a purposeful one that creates impact," Professor Dr Abdus Salam said, highlighting the importance of collaboration between industry and academia and stronger alumni engagement. Mohammad Ali discussed the growing role of artificial intelligence and encouraged students to learn Chinese and Arabic, saying China and the Middle East continue to drive global opportunities.
During the first day, students and fresh graduates interacted with representatives of participating organisations at company booths and explored career and recruitment opportunities.
A human resources panel discussion featuring professionals from IDLC Finance, Grameenphone, and BAT offered practical guidance on preparing CVs, using LinkedIn, participating in extracurricular activities, and understanding employers' recruitment expectations.
A mock focus group discussion was also held, giving participants practical exposure to a key stage of the recruitment process.
The second day featured a dedicated session by Pubali Bank, offering students and fresh graduates insights into corporate careers, recruitment and professional growth through an interactive discussion and question-and-answer session. Industry professionals then conducted mock interviews, allowing participants to experience the recruitment process and receive practical feedback on their academic backgrounds, experience and career interests.
The event concluded with a closing ceremony that recognised the contributions of sponsors and partners and highlighted the importance of developing a skilled, industry-ready workforce.
Founded in 2007, Voice of Business is a student-run business organisation that arranges competitions, publications, workshops and professional events to support student development and industry engagement.
