Dhaka South distributes healthcare cards for sanitation workers
Under a programme by Sajida Foundation and Reckitt Benckiser, around 6,000 sanitation workers and their families will receive 50% to 100% healthcare benefits at nearly 450 hospitals nationwide.
The Dhaka South City Corporation has distributed healthcare cards initially covering around 1,000 sanitation workers, along with free and subsidised treatment.
The cards were distributed by Dhaka South Administrator Md Abdus Salam today (16 June). Harpic, Sajida Foundation, WaterAid and other partners support the initiative.
Under a programme by Sajida Foundation and Reckitt Benckiser, around 6,000 sanitation workers and their families will receive 50% to 100% healthcare benefits at nearly 450 hospitals nationwide. Chartered Life Insurance will also provide Tk30,000 in financial assistance if a worker or family member dies within a year.
Abdus Salam said sanitation workers play a vital role in keeping the capital liveable and stressed the importance of ensuring their healthcare and workplace safety through protective equipment.
He also urged residents to dispose of waste responsibly, saying public awareness and participation are essential for a cleaner city.
