HC grants Dipu Moni bail in one case, seeks explanation on 6 others
She is facing more than 38 cases, including allegations of murder, crimes against humanity, corruption, and incitement to violence.
The High Court has granted bail to former minister and joint general secretary of the now-banned Awami League, Dr Dipu Moni, in one of seven cases filed over allegations of murder and attempted murder during the July Uprising.
The court also issued a rule asking why she should not be granted bail in the remaining six cases.
The order was passed today (3 June) by a High Court bench comprising Justice Md Khairul Alam and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher.

Dr Dipu Moni served as a joint general secretary of the Awami League and held several key cabinet positions during the party's 15-year tenure in government, including foreign minister, education minister, and social welfare minister.
Following the fall of the Awami League government on 5 August 2024 amid the student-led mass uprising, police arrested Dipu Moni from the Baridhara area of Dhaka on the night of 19 August.
