DOE hosts children's art competition ahead of World Environment Day
The Department of Environment (DOE) today hosted a children's art competition at its Dhaka headquarters, aiming to foster environmental awareness ahead of World Environment Day 2026.
Nearly 700 children took part in the event, which began at 3:00pm and was divided into four categories: Group A (under eight years), Group B (eight to under 12 years), Group C (12 to under 16 years), and a special needs group with a flexible age range.
DOE Director General Lutfar Rahman attended as the chief guest.
A judging panel comprising Professor Rabiul Islam of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Dhaka, DOE Additional Director General Ziaul Haq, and children's art specialist and former Bangladesh Shishu Academy programme officer Samina Nafiz assessed the entries.
Directors Rajinara Begum (Waste and Chemical Management) and Parvez Chowdhury (Administration), along with other DOE officials, also attended.
Winners will be announced on 20 May 2026 via the DOE notice board and official website, with successful participants to be notified by telephone.
