Conspiracy against BNP will lead to isolation from people: State minister
"The party of the people in Bangladesh is BNP, and the leader of the people is Tarique Rahman," he said.
State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku has said that anyone conspiring against the BNP and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will become alienated from the people.
He made the remark at a May Day rally organised by the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal in front of BNP's central office in the capital's Naya Paltan today (1 May).
"The opposition parties are making various remarks and issuing threats. They say they will take to the streets with the people. But the party of the people in Bangladesh is BNP, and the leader of the people is Tarique Rahman," he said.
"Those who conspire against this will become detached from the people," he added.
Tuku further said, "At this moment, the most popular leader among the people of Bangladesh is Tarique Rahman. He is working day and night to improve people's lives. He is striving to change their fortunes."
Speaking at the same rally, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Abdus Salam said that the opposition parties have no connection with the people.
Addressing the opposition, he said, "They say they will remove BNP from power. BNP has not floated here from elsewhere. The people of this country stand with BNP."
