Bangladesh Bank promotes inclusive CMSME financing
Bangladesh Bank has intensified efforts to strengthen structured, inclusive, and sustainable financing in the banking sector by organising a capacity-building workshop on CMSME financing policy in Gaibandha.
BRAC Bank participated as the lead bank, according to a press release.
The workshop, held at R Rahman Community Centre in Gaibandha Sadar on 21 April, brought together representatives from 27 banks across the district.
The initiative underscored Bangladesh Bank's ongoing commitment to enhancing institutional readiness and professional capacity to support cottage, micro, small, and medium enterprises (CMSMEs).
The programme sought to improve operational capacity and promote a deeper understanding of policy-driven CMSME financing frameworks.
Bangladesh Bank Bogura Office Executive Director Md Shakhawat Hossain presided over the session.
Among the attendees were Uttara Bank General Head Md Mahiduddin Ahmed, BRAC Bank Regional Head Md Fazlul Kabir, Regional Head of SME Banking Bidhan Chandra Mukherjee, and Cluster Manager Md Azgar Hossain.
The workshop addressed key aspects of CMSME financing policy implementation, including regulatory compliance, structured financing models, risk management standards, and the strategic role of financial institutions in fostering sustainable entrepreneurship.
Participants took part in interactive knowledge-sharing sessions designed to strengthen institutional capacity and ensure more effective financing support for emerging entrepreneurs.
Bangladesh Bank officials highlighted the vital role of the CMSME sector in driving economic growth, generating employment, and fostering regional development.
They also emphasised the need for coordinated efforts, strong governance, and adherence to policy guidelines across financial institutions to build a resilient and inclusive economic ecosystem.
BRAC Bank stated that it remains committed to supporting national initiatives that expand access to finance, strengthen institutional capacity, and accelerate inclusive economic progress across Bangladesh.
