The application said primary investigations have found evidence of his involvement in the incident.
A Dhaka court today (27 April) denied bail to University of Dhaka associate professor Sudip Chakroborthy in a case over the alleged instigation of a student's suicide and sent him to jail after a hearing.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ripon Hossain passed the order after the accused, from the university's Theatre and Performance Studies Department, was produced before the court by Sub-Inspector Kazi Iqbal Hossain of Badda Police Station, who also sought his detention.
The case stems from the death of Munira Mahjabin Mimo, a student of the DU department, whose hanging body was recovered from her residence in North Badda.
A note found at the scene mentioned the accused by name and referred to money and personal items, according to police. Following the incident, a case was filed against Chakroborthy on charges of instigating suicide.
