The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) elections are taking place today. The voters have started to exercise their voting rights from 2 pm. The candidates competing in the election have been wished luck by the Fifa president Gianni Infantino.

In a video message, Infantino said, "Dear president, dear Kazi, dear councillors, dear friends, ladies and gentleman, I want to say that, I am really happy to address the congress. It is a very important congress and I would like to wish all the candidates good luck."

Infantino expressed his disappointment for not being able to present: "This congress has been working for the betterment of football in Bangladesh. Unfortunately, I couldn't physically be present with you. But trust me, my heart is right there."

In addition, the Fifa president said, "There is a ban on travel because of Covid-19. Despite being miles apart, we are all together and football is playing a great role. Because it's the main goal is to unite all."

Kazi Salahuddin, the incumbent president of the BFF, is one of the candidates for the supreme post of the president this year too. He is being challenged for the hot seat by Shafiqul Islam Manik and Badal Roy. Badal Roy, despite deciding not to compete initially, is competing for the post of the president from Samonnoy Parishad.

139 councillors are going to exercise their voting rights. 47 candidates are competing for 21 posts in the election.
