Banks asked to submit details of Mahi, wife’s accounts
The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit asked for bank account details of people associated with the couple within seven working days

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit, a government agency, asked banks to provide bank account details of Mahi B Chowdhury, the joint secretary-general of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh, and his wife Ashfa Haque Lopa on Thursday.
The agency also asked for bank account details of people associated with the couple within seven working days.
In a letter to the banks, the financial intelligence unit gave the electronic tax identification, passport and smart identity card numbers of Mahi, and his wife Lopa.
Mahi Chowdhury is the son of former president Badruddoza Chowdhury, and is also a member of parliament.
The letter identified them as the permanent and current residents of House 19, Road 12, Baridhara, Gulshan, Dhaka.
In the letter, the financial intelligence unit said that all information regarding Mahi and his wife's current and previous bank accounts must be sent as hard copies.
Last month the Anti-Corruption Commission summoned the couple over alleged involvement in amassing wealth beyond their known source of income.
