Shafiqur Rahman appointed leader of opposition in 13th national parliament
The gazette was issued today (14 March) by the Secretary of Parliament, Kaniz Mawla, on behalf of the Speaker.
The Bangladesh National Parliament has officially recognised Shafiqur Rahman, MP for Dhaka-15, as the Leader of the Opposition and Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, MP for Cumilla-11, as the Deputy Leader of the Opposition.
The gazette was issued today (14 March) by the Secretary of Parliament, Kaniz Mawla, on behalf of the Speaker.
The appointments were made under Rule 2(1)(A) of the Rules of Procedure of the Bangladesh National Parliament and the Leader and Deputy Leader of the Opposition (Remuneration and Privileges) Act, 2021.
Shafiqur Rahman was named leader of the largest opposition party Jamaat-e-Islam in the 13th National Parliament, while Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher will serve as his deputy.
