Bridge Division orders tighter monitoring to ease expressway toll queues
Under the direction of Road Transport and Bridges Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam, MP, Mohammad Abdur Rouf, Secretary of the Bridges Division and Executive Director of Bangladesh Bridge Authority, inspected several points and toll plazas on the Dhaka Elevated Expressway to address congestion and ensure passenger service.
The inspection was carried out by two teams—one covering the Tejgaon end and the other the airport area—according to a press release.
During the visit, Mohammad Abdur Rouf stated, 'The Prime Minister is sincere about ensuring smooth travel for the public. The Dhaka Elevated Expressway has been built to save the time of city residents. Any mismanagement or prolonged congestion here will not be accepted. We will continue regular monitoring to improve service quality.'

He added, 'The Dhaka Elevated Expressway is a symbol of trust for city residents. If people have to wait a long time to pay tolls, the core objective of this project is undermined.'
He directed officials to increase the effectiveness of electronic toll collection (ETC) booths, ensure quick repairs of technical faults, and, if congestion pressure rises, deploy additional manpower at toll booths to speed up manual toll collection.
During the inspection, Altaf Hossain Sheikh, Director (Administration) and Additional Secretary of Bangladesh Bridge Authority; Kazi Md Ferdaus, Director (O&M) and Chief Engineer; A H M S Akhtar, Project Director; Md Waliul Hasan, Additional Director (P&D); and senior representatives of First Dhaka Elevated Company were present.
